Building on the success of the Smokers’ Centre retail outlets and in response to the new shopping developments in the Emirates, NTDE has launched a groundbreaking concept in convenience stores.
The News Centre outlets have been designed as mini supermarkets for people on the move in the busy emirate. Located in high pedestrian traffic areas within malls, News Centre offers premium convenience products such as confectionery, soft drinks and chilled juices alongside local and international newspapers and magazines.
A distinctly European concept along the lines of train station kiosks, the News Centre reflects the changing trends in consumers in the Emirates. Many customers no longer have the time for large hypermarkets, and the self-service areas leave consumers free to choose from well-known and well-respected brands.
The modern stores also act as a showcase for NTDE’s consumer confectionary products such as Cadbury chocolates, Vitaene C drinks chillers, the POKKA juice range and Lays Chips. Cigars, cigarettes and smoking accessories like pipes and shishas, which are popular gifts for tourists, occupy fifty per cent of the remaining space.
Current locations are at Deira City Centre, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Festival City and Sharjah City Centre and Al Manar shopping mall in RAK. News Centre will shortly open in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and Al Righa Road. NTDE’s marketing division is currently conducting ongoing research into other profitable high traffic locations for News Centres including bus and taxi terminus, shopping malls and the new light railway project.
